Doses
To treat endometriosis, a starting dose of 800 mg danazol given in two divided doses is recommended. For mild cases, an initial daily dose of 200 mg to 400 mg given in two divided doses is recommended and may be adjusted depending on patient response.The total daily dosage of danazol for fibrocystic breast disease ranges from 100 mg to 400 mg, given in two divided doses depending upon patient response. Hereditary Angioedema- starts on 50 mg, two or three times a day.
Indications
Contraception,also indicated menstrual-related disorders such as menstrual pain, irregular menstruation, fibroids, endometriosis-related pain, and menstrual-related migraines
Side Effects
"weight gain, acne and seborrhea. Mild hirsutism, edema, hair loss, voice change, which may take the form of hoarseness, sore throat rash, itching"
Contradictions
"Hypersensitivity, pregnancy, Undiagnosed abnormal genital bleeding. Markedly impaired hepatic, renal, or cardiac function, Pregnancy, Breast feeding."
