Doses
Vaginal use only Typical regimen (ART): ~90 mg once daily (gel) or as prescribed. Continue up to 10–12 weeks of pregnancy if conception occurs. As prescribed by the physician.
Indications
Luteal Support during IVF and ART Luteal support in case of proven luteal phase insufficiency Maintenance of pregnancy in case of Threatened / Recurrent abortion Secondary Amenorrhea Dysfunctional Uterine Bleeding (DUB)
Side Effects
Vaginal progesterone commonly causes local irritation, including itching, burning, discharge, and vaginal dryness. Systemic side effects include headache, breast tenderness, bloating, constipation, drowsiness, fatigue, and mood swings.
Contradictions
Undiagnosed vaginal bleeding Known or suspected breast/genital malignancy Active or history of thromboembolic disorders Severe liver dysfunction Hypersensitivity to progesterone
